Wellington bus drivers to strike on Friday
Do you support Wellington bus driver striking?
Wellington bus drivers will strike for 24 hours on Friday, shutting down many key services in the city.
Tramways Union secretary Kevin O’Sullivan said members had ‘just had it’.
Tramways and Public Passenger Transport Employee’s Union’s Wellington Branch gave notice of a total strike at 3am Thursday morning. The strike will start at 4am on Friday, and end at 4am on Saturday.
The ‘surprise’ strike was announced Thursday morning after drivers voted 204-2 in favour of taking industrial action at a meeting on April 14.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
