SENIORS WEEK - Spin Poi & Other Exercise Classes
Playing with poi is a lot of fun! I'm loving taking the Koha Spin Poi class on Thursdays in Kilbirnie, and great to have people from Neighbourly coming along. This upcoming week is Seniors week and I've got some extra Intro to Spin Poi classes happening around the Wellington area. Some of these are outside of the Eastern Suburbs, so please pass the info on to your friends and family who might be interested.

Tuesday, 10 Nov, 2pm - Intro to Spin Poi - Newlands Community Centre (free)
* Wednesday, 11 Nov, 2pm - Spin Poi Open class - Your house (via Zoom) - contact me for link (ongoing class, first class free, then $5)
* Thursday, 12 Nov, 4pm - Intro to Spin Poi - Kilbirnie Community Centre (koha)
* Thursday, 12 Nov, 5pm - Spin Poi Open class - Kilbirnie Community Centre (ongoing class, koha)
* Friday 13 Nov, 10am - Seated exercise class - Karori Recreation Centre (ongoing class, first class free, then $5)
Friday, 13 Nov, 11.30am - Intro to Spin Poi - Karori Community Centre (koha)
Saturday, 14 Nov, 10.30am - Intro to Spin Poi - Strathmore Park Community Centre (free)
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the starting time. Classes marked * = contact me for enquiries, or just turn up on the day. For all others, contact the venue to register. Note that the Kilbirnie Community Centre is in temporary premises around behind Farmers.
The Seated exercise class is an approved "Live Stronger for Longer" entry level class suitable for various forms of arthritis, MS, recovery from strokes or heart attacks, chronic fatigue, easing back into exercise and more.
SpinPoi can be done sitting or standing and is suitable for almost everyone. Inspired by traditional poi, it has been adapted by Dr Kate Riegle van West to be a safe and effective exercise, especially for older populations. On top of the usual benefits of exercise, typically people will see improvements in grip strength, attention, focus, balance and coordination.
