Ex Cyclone Gita

Simon Woolf from Councillor Simon Woolf - Wellington City Council

Hi All,

While the storm has been downgraded, it still could cause problems around the city, and especially low lying coastal areas. It is significant that all flights in and out of Wellington Airport have been cancelled between 3.30pm and midnight.

If you are encountering issues, which Council can assist in resolving, please don't hesitate to ring Council's Helpline on 4994444.

Additionally there is The Fix It Phone Application, which can also be used to report problems.

High tide is at 9.40pm tonight, which combined with a gusty southerly wind change could be the most vulnerable time.

Please keep yourselves safe, and look after your neighbours.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
