Is this slug typical? It's magestic!

We're keen to find out a bit more, as it's pretty big - at least 10cm. Found on the footpath in Island Bay this morning. Gardeners may know it well.. We assume it's not a shell-less snail. It has a round opening on its side at the bulbous point.
