All … View moreNewtown Toastmasters is holding a one-day Speechcraft workshop on Saturday 18 May. We're inviting 6 participants (age 18+) from the Newtown area to take part. Don't miss this great opportunity to improve your communication skills - whether for work or community involvement.
All presenters are regular Toastmasters club members. Running these workshops helps our members to build their communication and leadership skills, too.
We'll focus on practical skills and simple exercises, including:
- Speech writing - crafting a speech with minimal preparation time
- Speaking off the cuff - applying techniques in impromptu speaking situations
- Giving feedback in a constructive and positive manner
- Delivery approaches using voice and body language

We enjoyed Jeanette's inspiring and well-structured Icebreaker, "3 Things That Have Made Me Who I am". It's always exciting to hear from new members for the first time.
Norbert recently completed his "Visionary Communication" Pathway and took us through the 500 days of 10 projects - in all of 12 minutes!
Finally, it was time to say goodbye to Matthew and Debs, who are both returning to live in the UK. You've both made great contributions to the club and we'll miss you - look forward to having a drink with you on Friday :)
Remember, as it is ANZAC day, our trains, buses and ferries run on public holiday timetables. Our normal weekday services will resume tomorrow.
