Soft drink rant at supermarkets

Crete from Lyall Bay

Has anyone noticed the price of soft drinks at paknsave this week? Some people won't care but I was shocked yesterday when I shopped in Kilbirnie paknsave and wanted to buy my normal 2.25 litre bottle only to discover that it had increased more than 25% from $3,49 to $4,65. This is outrageous. When I questioned this they said the supplier stated that because the 1,5litre was on sale from $2.65 to $2 this week the 2,25 litre had to be increased. I compared with Countdown - $4,00 for 1,5l and $3.50 for 2.25. And this is just one thing I noticed. I can only imagine what these super markets are manipulating with other products. I guess I will be drinking water from now on.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
