Rates
Rates invoices have been arriving in the mail, if you haven't already received yours it will be coming. Unfortunately not every-one is going to be able to afford them. So did you know that there is a rates rebate that you can apply for? A lot of people think you have to be over 65 years old before you can apply but if your income tax is $25,180 or less and live in your own home you may be able to claim the full amount of $630. Exactly how much you get will depend on what your rates bill is, how many children or dependents you have and your income. The rebate is income tested so even if you earn more than this you may qualify for some assistance. If you want to know more pop into your local bureau and talk with the volunteers, we can also tell you about rates remission for first home builders and rates postponement if you are experiencing extreme financial hardship.
