The council agreed in October to support using base isolators to upgrade the library building, and included the $187 million project in its draft 10-year plan that comes into effect from July. It was agreed to following public feedback and a decision to breach its borrowing cap as the council looks to fund several major infrastructure projects.
Just months after settling on a plan to upgrade its stricken central library, Wellington City Council is now considering another way to strengthen the earthquake-prone building – one that could save tens of millions of dollars.
The “viscous damper” technology was not included in five upgrade options released for public feedback in October but is now back on the table after Beca, the engineering company that proposed it, complained. Councillors are set to be given an update on its feasibility next month.
Viscous dampers is a system of hydraulic devices that dissipate energy.

I wanted to take the time to introduce myself and my yoga studio, Beyond Yoga!
My name is Samantha Rozitis and I am Canadian, but also proudly a NZ citizen. I have taught yoga in Wellington for nearly a decade and opened Tawa's first yoga studio in November 2020, Beyond Yoga. I am also the owner of Float Well, a float tank centre on Cuba Street.
The inspiration to open a yoga studio in Tawa was to bring yoga closer to home. While I have only lived in Tawa for a few years, my partner is a generational Tawa resident - in fact, he, his mum & his grandmother all attended the same primary school! Having a studio close to home makes committing to a regular practice so much easier.
I believe that yoga can change your life. The physical practice is so good to build strength, improve flexibility and mobility; while the teachings of yoga and the breathwork can help soothe an overstimulated mind and promote more calm in your life.
We offer 4 different styles of classes: Yin, Mellow, Flow & Kinstretch. All our classes are suitable for all levels of experience, from absolute beginner to seasoned yoga practitioner. The teacher's I've brought on board are quite literally my favourite yoga teachers in Wellington and they each offer a unique approach to their teaching.
Beyond Yoga is located at 4/82 Main Road, inside Pac Fitness (which is owned by my partner). We have classes 7 days a week at a variety of times to suit your schedule.
Please get in touch if you have any questions about our studio or classes. I am so proud to be the first yoga studio in Tawa and cannot wait to meet you all! ✨

"I was transferred from Porirua Animal Control. I am a special dude who has had an unusual start to my rehoming journey. I am completely deaf but that doesn't stop me having a great time! I am a loveable boy who has stolen the hearts of everyone at the centre. I am looking for an experienced owner, who has a suitable property for me to thrive in. I'm always up for a walk or a game to play, and I love to find things to do and keep active. I am looking for a home with teenagers or adults, and a home without cats or small animals. I am happy to play with other active dogs, and love to be social with both people and dogs. If you are interested in me and my goofy personality - chat to the canine team."

Hi everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone has about 30mls of raw linseed oil they could pass on cheap or free? I need to revive some window putty for a one off repair so it's not worth buying a big bottle as most of it wont be used.
