Music at the Social Studio

Rob from Island Bay

For those who missed the notice and the flyers, the Social Studio is open to anyone interested in carrying out creative activities in company rather than on their own. It is available at the Island Bay Presbyterian Church on Tuesday mornings. The organisers request a gold coin koha to cover tea, coffee, electricity and cleaning.
This last Tuesday some friends and I met there to play some acoustic music. We have each performed solo and in combos in various styles. It seems to me that this is an excellent way to celebrate New Zealand Music Month. The other folk present who were busy with their own arts and crafts (including musical instrument repair) were very appreciative of the noises we made.
There must be a lot of very talented musicians in this area and it would be great to meet others who might be free to come along on a weekday morning to share their own music.
And, who knows what might come of it...
