I assume mesh is being used to save repair costs. Also, possibly traditional timber street railing is now not considered safe? The mesh is fast attracting large swathes of weeds as it the perfect surface for climbing on!.... How is the council going to control the weeds from covering the mesh?....Increase the amount of weed spraying? Also, surely repainting the timber beneath the mesh could be problematic? Simply repairing the existing timber railing would be the best option and adding in more timber rails (if safety is a problem). Wellington's traditional timber street railing is worth saving ....and looks far better than wire mesh.
Note: One photo shows how a mesh area has now become an ivy hedge!.

My partner and I would like to go to the South Island and it would be great if we didn't have to buy a new one (and we wouldn't consider buying a super cheap one because they tend to not last long and it quickly becomes unnecessary rubbish).
Thank you!

On three days now I have entered the code word and had a response that claimed incorrectly that my entry was unsuccessful as I had already entered.
I suspect it is probably a fault in the computer programme.
Has anyone else had this experience?

Temporary closures and diversions
These will come into effect between the hours of 7pm to 5am each day commencing Saturday 18 January to Sunday 19 January 2020.
Why is it closing? Essential works on the Lambton Quay North/Whitmore Street intersection area are necessary to prevent further damage. As a result the lane heading towards Wellington Rail/suburbs will need to be closed from Stout Street to the Whitmore Street intersection allowing contractors to carry out this work. The road will be closed to all traffic, including buses, which will be diverting via Stout Street.
