Harvest Moon at Hilltop
This Saturday 19 July 2025 Music starts 7pm. Americana and Country music band Harvest Moon feature a dazzling array of instruments including pedal steel, mandolin, guitars, banjo, accordion, and dobro, playing a diverse collection of classics from legends like Johnny Cash, John Prine, Dwight Yoakam, and Neil Young. The Wellington-based band’s front-man, lead vocalist Rob Reid provides a powerful and smooth singing style; founding member & multi instrumentalist Garrett Evans plays pedal steel, dobro, guitars and sings vocals too; Dave Allen is Harvest Moon’s lead guitarist and banjo player - he also plays in Salty Hearts and Hogsnort Bulldogs Goodtime Show; another original member, Wayne Mills plays keys, accordion, bass and sings; A veteran of NZ’s vibrant 60s and 70s music scene, bassist Frits Stigter brings a wealth of experience and groove; On percussion - Robert Antonio is another well-known personality in the close-knit Wellington musical scene.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
