ANZ have shared details about how to protect yourself, and these apply to any message from your bank.
Think twice before acting and...
✅Double-check who’s contacting you. If something feels off, don’t reply.
✅Contact the bank directly using official details (their website or app) - not the message you received.
✅Don’t click links in unexpected or suspicious messages.
✅Never share sensitive info like codes, passwords, or banking logins - they will never ask for these.
✅Don’t allow remote access or screen sharing on your device, even if they claim to be from a trusted organisation.
ANZ shared that they may contact you to check a transaction but they will never ask for access to your device, security codes, or to move your money.

This storm has the potential to be a significant and damaging event. We know this will be unwelcome news for communities that have recently been affected by severe weather and are still recovering.
More rain falling on ground that’s already saturated, means impacts like fallen trees, landslides, flooding and dangerous river conditions are more likely.
Please stay safe in severe weather. If life, health or property is in danger, call 111 immediately.
During a storm, stay inside. Don't walk around outside. Don't drive unless necessary. Strong winds can fell trees and poles, tear off roofs, and cause branches and debris to fly at high speed.
Put safety first. Don’t take any chances. Act quickly if you see rising water. Floods and flash floods can happen quickly. If you see rising water, do not wait for official warnings. Head for higher ground and stay away from floodwater.
Do not try to walk, play, swim, or drive in floodwater.
If you see a landslide, move out of its path and stay away from it. It is important to recognise the warning signs and act quickly.
When it is safe to do so, check on your neighbours and anyone who might need your help.

Wellington Girls’ College principal Julia Davidson said it was “no surprise” no more single-sex schools were being built. “But it’s a shame because I think kids benefit from choice and going to a school that works well for them.”

Not surprising given petrol prices at the moment. But if you're considering giving up your car commute for a leisurely bus ride in the mornings, it would be worth it.
It's about to get even easier: In April, e-pay will be launched, meaning you can tap on with your credit cards as well as smart devices.
It's better on the environment too: With most Metlink trains running on electricity, 25% of the bus fleet being EV’s and the Ika Rere electric ferry, Metlink is able to move more people using less fuel than any other transport option.
With fuel costs so high, it's a good idea to jump on board if you can. If you've become a public transport convert recently, how have you found it?

Would anyone like some feijoas?
My parents trees produced an abundance so I'm giving them away.
PM me for contactless collection and when you are collecting them think of others, there is plenty to go around and please bring your own container/bag.

For some, it's a chance for an epic Easter egg hunt and for others, it may be a trip to church. For some, it might just be a few days of sleeping in.
We'd love to know, how do YOU mark Easter each year?

The Khandallah Bowling Club is currently considering the possibility of creating a community garden on the Pétanque court. The court will become vacant this month with the closure of the Khandallah Pétanque Club.
Options for the future possible uses of the Pétanque court were presented to a working group of the Khandallah Bowling club.
Of the options presented “the installation of a raised beds commnity garden was the most preferred." Bowling club board member Dennis Gibb told the ‘Independent Herald’. We are keen to hear from the community what people think of this idea and any suggestions on how it could function
Any interested people can let Dennis Gibb know their reaction to the community garden idea by emailing him at gibbwhanau@gmail.com.
There are similar examples of bowling clubs having gardens, and Dennis provided two examples.
“The Wainuiomata Bowling Club has a large vegetable garden, possibly equal in area to our Pétanque green. “It has been very successful with range ofeasily grown vegetables. They also have a glasshouse.
“The Point Chevalier Bowling Club in Auckland handed over a redundant bowling green to a community garden organisation, including a glasshouse in 2015. It is
known as Growing Point.”
A garden at the Khandallah Bowling Club “could operate as a community garden with the produce going to numerous recipients.
Sold within the community.
Sold to club members
Donated to charities, such as food banks and families in need.
Taken by volunteers,”
As the raised beds sit on top of the Pertanque gravel surface, the surrounding area would be easily maintained.
There could be other benefits.
Benefits could be
A source of revenue for the club from the sale of some produce;
it could provide added security for the bowl-ing club with people regularly on site and
the possibility of new members from those involved in the garden being attracted by seeing the bowling activity. Khandallah Bowling is a very friendly club that welcomes new members.
“It is estimated that the Pétanque area could, at the most, accommodate about 24 raised beds," Dennis said. “This allows about 1.5 metres between beds. “Twenty four however is probably a bit excessive, and some of the space
could be utilised for a greenhouse and potting facilities at a later date. It is envisaged that the development of the garden garden would be a progressive undertaking that could eventually include fruit trees, cut flowers, and even beehives.
