Te taunga wakarererangi ki Poneke...WLGN AIRPORT(p.m deetz)
Tēnā koutou e te whānau,
Are we all aware of the newly released development plans for Wellington Airport, their $1b+ plan to allow for yet more pollution of our air, waterways, radio frequencies and whenua...land....as WE are still being bombarded by AIRPORT PARK IN OUR DRIVEWAYS & RUN Wellington Airport customers...my awesome neighbours and I share the same view, if you can pay to travel overseas, surely you can pay for safe parking at the AIRPORT...funny that they have so much land & have purchased the back end of the Miramar Golf Course to build yet more concrete jungle parking for their customers whilst we have so many homeless or struggling to make ends meet now living & begging on our streets here (Roxy, Matua Bun our local businesses & Kilbirnie aswell Countdown)What are WE going to do about this as LOCAL CITIZENS & RESIDENTS OF OUR COMMUNITY, as parents, grandparents, Aunties, uncles, cousins who are guardians of our future leaders? What action are WE going to take...Miramar Eco Society, Motu Kairangi Takiwā...any suggestions are more than welcome. Our voices and action combined together will make a huge impact, so let’s do something rather than sit back and do nothing...Ki te hoe e te hāpori...Lets Do this Motu Kairangi and our surrounding communities...Miramar Community House, Community minded and wellbeing...I will be in touch again shortly as I am hoping that our community will be able to utilise our Community House as a point of contact and base...all those who live outside of our effected communities please have a heart, put yourselves in our shoes, our kids and grandchildren who will suffer now & into the future from the ripple effect just as much, if not more than us adults(the cause of the effect)please if you contribute by way of commenting, please ensure that we stay on track and suggest only achievable and do-able actions...The time is nigh 💜🔥💜👆🏼💜🌊I
⚠️ DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS. If you love them, don't leave them. ⚠️
It's a message we share time and time again, and this year, we're calling on you to help us spread that message further.
Did you know that calls to SPCA about dogs left inside hot cars made up a whopping 11% of all welfare calls last summer? This is a completely preventable issue, and one which is causing hundreds of dogs (often loved pets) to suffer.
Here are some quick facts to share with the dog owners in your life:
👉 The temperature inside a car can heat to over 50°C in less than 15 minutes.
👉 Parking in the shade and cracking windows does little to help on a warm day. Dogs rely on panting to keep cool, which they can't do in a hot car.
👉 This puts dogs at a high risk of heatstroke - a serious condition for dogs, with a mortality rate between 39%-50%.
👉 It is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act to leave a dog in a hot vehicle if they are showing signs of heat stress. You can be fined, and prosecuted.
SPCA has created downloadable resources to help you spread the message even further. Posters, a flyer, and a social media tile can be downloaded from our website here: www.spca.nz...
We encourage you to use these - and ask your local businesses to display the posters if they can. Flyers can be kept in your car and handed out as needed.
This is a community problem, and one we cannot solve alone. Help us to prevent more tragedies this summer by sharing this post.
On behalf of the animals - thank you ❤️
