Rā Whānau Suzanne Aubert - Commemorative Birthday Mass

Ruchika Jayatilaka from Sisters of Compassion

You are invited to the Commemorative Birthday Mass for Suzanne Aubert at 6:00pm on Wednesday 19 June 2019.

The annual Mass will be celebrated by Cardinal John Dew at St Anne's Church, 22 Emmett Street, Newtown, Wellington.

We will be taking up a collection of food items for the Soup Kitchen Wellington during the Mass. Donations of canned vegetables, fruit, soup, coconut milk, and fish, as well as dried goods such as coffee (fresh and instant), lentils, split peas, and pearl barley, would be much appreciated.

The Sisters of Compassion and the Catholic Parish of Wellington South are hosting the Mass which will be followed by refreshments in St Anne's Hall.

This year marks the 184th anniversary of Suzanne Aubert’s birth. Suzanne was born near Lyon in France and her response to the Gospel brought her to Aotearoa New Zealand in 1860. She devoted her life to supporting the Māori people, and to helping the suffering and those most in need. Suzanne is New Zealand’s first Saint in the making and was declared Venerable in 2016.

Loki: lost 3 leg cat from Te Wharepōuri Street

Caroline from Berhampore

Loki is up to his old tricks and has gone awol again. The last time was around 2.5 years ago when he was found inside a wall cavity in the Satan Slaves compound. He is an 8 year old lilac Burmese. This means he’s a kind of beige colour. With amber eyes. He’s missing his right front leg.

He’s likely to be shut in a shed or under a house in either Te Wharepouri street, Luxford or until between Luxford and te Whareouri St.

If you can take a look in any shut sheds, outside laundries or under houses cavities. Any 3 leg cat who can make his way into a roof cavity and then down into a wall can get stuck anywhere.
