Youre Invited to the opening of the Totara park Track, Mclintock St. South, Johnsonville, 10am Saturday 17 th September
The Johnsonville Community Association (JCA) is pleased to invite all Johnsonville (and nearby suburbs') residents to attend the official Community opening of our recently completed tracks through Totara Park, Johnsonville West.
Help us celebrate our achievement! Meet at McLintock St South end of the track at 10am Sat 17 September, to walk the NEW section of track to our NEW picnic table - for the best view in Johnsonville, and to witness what will (eventually!) be the finest stand of heritage native trees in the northern suburbs!! JCA - coordinated volunteers have worked tirelessly for over 6 years to complete the track, and plant hundreds of trees throughout Totara Park- a 2.3Ha park stretch of regenerating native bush between the "terminal" "(western) end of Broderick Rd., and McLintock St south (near the bus shelter).
Our achievement is the sum total of scores of local volunteers efforts: Whether they worked for a couple of hours one afternoon, or every second Saturday afternoon for many years, all have helped transform an accessible stretch of seemingly worthless scrub and , into a biodiversity jewel with easy(ish!) walking access for all.
So, please join us, the volunteers and witness the track being opened by JCA President, Tony Randle. Please Meet at the McLintock St . End of the track (see map attached) 10am Saturday to be the very first to walk the final addition to the track, and to help us celebrate the tracks grand opening!
(For those living nearby, a second group will meet at the Broderick Rd end of the track at 10am, and both groups will converge at the "junction"- 30m. from the top end of the track 0- at 10:15 am to walk to our new picnic table and celebrate the completion of this great new new community facility.

PS - we are planning another, much more ambitious track build beginning soon! Come along and be "in on the ground floor" of this amazing project!

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
