The 42-square metre Miramar house was described as “perfect for busy singles, or couples” in the listing by real estate group Ray White. One housing advocate instead described the house as like a “more respectable version” of the converted shipping container recently listed for $390 per week in Johnsonville.
Would you pay $750,000 to live in a container?

Hi neighbours,

Want to know when it's your turn to get the Covid-19 vaccine?
An online tool (click on Read More) which can help New Zealanders figure out which vaccination group they’re in has been released.
The questionnaire is available on the Unite Against Covid-19 website.
Users answer a short series of questions about their health, location, job, and life situation.
The results tell them which of the four main vaccination groups they’re in, and when they can expect to get their vaccine.
Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield said the tool also provided more information about who is in each group.
“So if you’re a healthcare worker or work in a long-term residential environment, for example, it will provide an indication when you can expect to get vaccinated.
“You don’t need to provide any information that could be used to identify you, and the information you do provide isn’t saved once you leave the web page.”
The ministry said it was in the process of being translated into 24 languages, which would start to appear on the website from Monday.
The website page and online tool will be updated as the vaccine roll-out plan scales up.
“As we move through the roll-out of the vaccination programme, we want people to be as informed as soon as possible about when they can expect to be vaccinated.
“This tool is designed to make that as easy as possible,” Bloomfield said.

Waitohi Community Hub in Johnsonville will be closed to the public over the long Easter weekend for significant maintenance and resealing work.
The closure includes Common Ground Café, Johnsonville Library and Keith Spry Pool. The Johnsonville Community Centre will remain open except on the statutory holidays – Good Friday and Easter Monday.
“We are doing this over Easter as most parts of Waitohi were closing on the statutory Easter holidays. Otherwise we would have needed to shut down the Hub for four consecutive days later in the year,” says Laurinda Thomas, Libraries and Community Spaces Manager.

While Waitohi will be quieter, please take care travelling on Johnsonville roads which will be busier due to a traffic detour. Contractors will be carrying out tree-felling across the State Highway network, which will require traffic to be detoured through Johnsonville at times over the Easter break.

Looking for a cellphone

Gemma from Johnsonville

My cellphone stopped working after a mishap where it fell on the ground a couple of weeks ago.
Is there any chance someone has a spare old Android smartphone I could have or buy relatively cheaply?
Any older smartphone capable of running Android 6 or 7 would be fine!

"Hi there my name is Maggie, I am a loveable lady looking for my forever home. In my previous home I had someone home with me full time and when left alone for periods at a time I have shown the ability to escape out of medium height fencing. So my new home would need to have high fencing and a plan for during the day if left alone that does not include being tied or tethered. I would love a home that has older children that have grown up around strong dogs and a home that has had experience with dogs. I have had a fair bit of training but there is always room to learn more things so would love a home that could put the time into teaching me. If you think you are the home for me get in touch with the canine team to learn more about me."

To help minimise waste, we've made a few changes to how you visit the Southern Landfill.

When you arrive at the landfill, please visit the Tip Shop & Recycle Centre first to drop off reusables and recyclables. Then head up to the Transfer Station to drop off green waste, tyres, batteries, hazardous waste and general rubbish.

As you enter the Transfer Station please let our weigh bridge staff know if you have items to separate out. If you have more than one type of waste you may be asked to loop back through the weighbridge so that the correct charges can be applied.

The proposal to do away with free park and ride spaces, is in the Greater Wellington Regional Council's draft Regional Public Transport Plan 2021-2031. Submissions close at the end of today (Friday).
