'In Other Words' now on sale at Circa Theatre

Marketing Manager from Circa Theatre

Jennifer Ward-Lealand and Michael Hurst star in the award-winning two-hander, In Other Words.
Starring the acclaimed real-life couple Jennifer Ward-Lealand and Michael Hurst, this is a rare opportunity to see two of New Zealand’s finest actors share the stage in a two-hander for the first time.

In Other Words tells the story of Arthur and Jane, whose lifelong love is threatened by the gradual onset of Alzheimer’s.

Connected by the timeless music of Frank Sinatra, this intimate, humorous and deeply moving story explores the effects of dementia and the transformative power of music to help us remember the past, reconnect with the present and hope for the future.

“We’re both going into this show with a huge amount of enthusiasm”, says Jennifer Ward-Lealand. “I’ve had some beloved family members and friends head down this road. It’s pretty devastating and a lot to carry for loved ones.” “We’re all in this together,” adds Michael Hurst.

Written by award-winning UK playwright Matthew Seager, In Other Words has won four Moliere awards for its writing and its sensitive and respectful portrayal of Alzheimer’s. Off the back of an equally successful New Zealand premiere during World Alzheimer’s Month in September 2024, it’s one not to be missed.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
