Opportunity to finish off and own a 16 ft double masted ketch
The Lapwing is a design of Graham Byrnes of B & B Yacht Designs
I built an earlier design - the Core Sound 17 and sailed her for a number of years. That boat had a hard chine - when Graham came up with the clinker ply plans I knew I had to build it. When I was in Auckland I had a double garage and could work under cover. I finished 80% of the build. At that point in time we moved to Wellington - and for the last 4 years I have had no covered space to finish the last 10% of the project (mainly painting the cockpit and putting on the side decks). .
I have all the plans, a full set of sails, both masts and a road trailer.
We are moving soon so for a number of reasons it it time to pass the boat to someone else. You could do this as an individual or you might want to have some co-owners to spread the cost. The boat can be sailed singe handed but is happiest with 2 or 4 crew. I will be letting her go for the the cost of materials. I will be available to be a consultant to help on the finishing and rigging.
If you are interested let me know and we can make a time to show you over. I am based in Vogeltown .

What do you think? Should speeding motorists receive speeding fines or demerit points?
-
36.3% The sting of a fine (Money talks!)
-
63.7% The threat of demerit points (Nobody wants to lose their license!)

Some Choice News!
DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.
Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, weโre a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.
For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.
Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature โ and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
We hope this brings a smile!
