Acute Acupuncture is focused on unlocking the body’s power to heal itself and understands the importance of enabling its patients to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.

We specialize in a wide range of medical conditions from mental/emotional problems (including addiction, anxiety, depression and reducing stress) to musculoskeletal problems (including repetitive strain injury (RSI) and any accident covered by ACC). We also support patients with chronic conditions such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, endometriosis, polycystic ovaries, adrenal fatigue, arthritis and migraines.

After gaining a wide range of experience as an acupuncturist and tuina practitioner in different settings throughout the greater Wellington Region including Hutt Hospital Maternity Acupuncture Clinic, a community outreach program at Arohata women’s prison, at Bendy Buddha, at Achilles Clinic, and as a Teaching Assistant and a Guest Lecturer at the New Zealand School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Nate Wafstet identified a gap in the market and opened up his own clinic on The Terrace in Wellington Central where he could incorporate the experience and skills that he had acquired to build a thriving inner-city practice.

There’s nothing more satisfying than watching the progression of each patient when they embark upon their personal health journey, and Nate has great passion to help facilitate patients to achieve their health goals.

Customer Reviews

Robert Beno on Google Reviews :

Nate is the real deal: Thrilled I found this guy while travelling through Wellington cause he is an accomplished professional and a true expert. Having been to several dozen acupuncturists over the years in various countries from Australia, NZ, the UK and USA, Nate is up there with the best and tackled my head tension and related pain in a new, creative and unique way that many others before did not and this has produced great results and tremendous relief. His keen observation, deep knowledge, clever questions, insightful pulse analysis and tongue diagnosis all worked in concert to bring about a good shift in just 2 sessions. I have great admiration for his ability to get to the heart of the issue and deal with the emotional side that underlies the issues, too. All round, hands down, this is someone who is a gift to the clients fortunate enough to see him. Thanks!!!

Kayana S on Google Reviews :

I’ve been seeing Nate for a few months now, and I couldn’t recommend him more! As a qualified massage therapist, I am often very sceptical of other therapists. However, I have been blown away by the knowledge and treatments I have been offered over this time. Nate has a deep understanding of the human body and health that puts me at ease. The treatments have almost completely rid me of muscular tension in places that regular massage hasn’t, along with relieving stress and aiding my overall wellbeing. Absolutely fantastic job, can’t wait to come back!

New research reveals the chances of the South Island’s Alpine Fault generating a damaging earthquake in the next 50 years are much higher than previously thought.
New research led by Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington senior lecturer Dr Jamie Howarth shows the probability of that earthquake occurring before 2068 is about 75 per cent.
Until now, it had been thought to be about 30 per cent, based on sequences of sediment deposited adjacent to the Alpine Fault in northern Fiordland.
Scientists from Victoria University, the University of Otago, GNS Science, the University of California, and the United States Geological Survey also calculated there is about an 82 per cent chance the earthquake will be of magnitude-8 or higher.

Hello lovely neighbours,

Me again :)

My partner and I recently moved into a bus and we as much as we love it we also feel the need to have another space where we can expand a little and use as need be.

What we are after is a little studio/room, can be basic as long as we can throw a couch/bed and a desk in there. We would also like to have street access/a driveway to park the bus, ideally with power/water access.

We are looking anywhere both in town and out of town (Petone or Lower Hutt, as long as it’s on the train line).

We probably wouldn’t be there all the time, basically we would like the option to come and go as we please and use that space as a base.

If anyone could help, I would be forever grateful.

Cheers,
Giulia

We are looking for awesome individuals or couples who would like to support a local family and act as a "GrandFriend". We have a waiting list of families all over NZ who would love nothing more than to connect with you.

GrandFriends is a little charity that combats big issues like isolation and loneliness.

We are the bridge that brings kiwis together from across the generations. By connecting families with GrandFriends, we provide a long lasting “people” solution to loneliness.

Using our years of experience we match like-minded GrandFriends, extending their support networks, so they can enjoy the special moments, share the load - all the while combating loneliness.

You are welcome to apply as an individual - or if you wish to apply with your partner (husband/wife/significant other) as something that you can volunteer with together - that is also very much welcome and encouraged.

When Wellington’s Central Library finally re-opens in 2025, it will be under a new official name: Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui.
The name has been used as a secondary title for several years, but will now be recognised as the official name of the library as part of a commitment to consult with mana whenua throughout the design process.
Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui approximately translates to ‘The window to the wider world’.
In October 2020, city councillors voted unanimously to fix and upgrade the earthquake-prone building, which has been closed since March 2019, and officers were told to explore design options.
