Smells from the sewage processing facility at the southern landfill

Carl from Brooklyn Residents Association Incorporated

Smells from the sewage processing facility at the southern landfill - we have had the following email from Wellington Water, noting probable smell issues as they need to do work on the plant in Careys Gully, meaning some potential smells escaping the facility...

"You are receiving this email because your email address appears on either the mailing list for the Carey’s Gully Sludge Dewatering Plant or our list of interested parties.

Kia Ora Koutou

This email is to let you know that that due to unplanned maintenance of the roller door in the Skip Bay area from 13/02/2025 at 08:00, there is likely to be noticeable odour coming from the plant while these works are carried out.

Mitigation measures undertaken include Odour suppression system / Odour blaster and Odour monitoring on-site.

Email: Customer.Notifications@wellingtonwater.co.nz.
