Polio Survivors- register now....

Anne from Island Bay

kia ora,
My name is Anne Fitzpatrick. I had polio as a toddler in Methven in the early 1950's.

Last year I registered as a polio survivor with Polio NZ. We know there are about 9,000 polio survivors still alive in NZ. We want to get everyone we can registered so that we can build a case with Ministry of Health for getting some needs assessment and services for people who are now experiencing Late Effects of Polio (LEoP, also known as post polio syndrome- PPS).

So if you had polio or know someone who had polio please encourage them to register with Polio NZ. www.polio.org.nz...

I also joined Polio NZ as a member $17.50 per annum!) and have became active in the organisation.

As someone who is experiencing significant deterioration in my polio affected leg, and other new issues that are difficult to know the cause of, I have learnt an enormous amount about LEoP and the myriad of ways that it can impact on the polio survivor either at the time of the virus or much later in life.

So if you had polio, or are a family member, carer or clinician, or just care and want to know more, please consider joining Polio NZ.

Poll: If we want to reduce speeding, what do you think actually changes driver behaviour? 🛻🚨🚓

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In the Post's article on speeding penalties, the question is asked whether speeding fines are truly about road safety, or are they just a way to boost revenue for the Crown?

What do you think? Should speeding motorists receive speeding fines or demerit points?

Poll: Are you still heading to your local for your caffeine fix, or has the $$ changed your habits? ☕

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Wellington’s identity is built on its cafe culture, but with costs climbing, that culture is under pressure. We’ve seen the headlines about recent closures, and it’s a tough pill to swallow along with a $6+ coffee.

We all want our favourite spots to stay open, but we also have to balance our own budgets ⚖️

We want to know: How are you handling the "coffee math" in 2026? Are you still heading to your local for a chat and a caffeine fix, or has the cost of living changed your habits?

Keen to read more about "coffee math"? The Post has you covered.
