While retirement is typically a happy, relaxing time of life Age Concern says for some it can be very difficult as they experience a sense of loss, self worth and a lack of purpose.
We understand this is a sensitive topic, but we want to chat with a retiree who has initially struggled with retirement and may have felt these, or similar emotions.

The politicians have had many years to sort it and NZTA the same. Ginger groups the same. Some one on a bike has all the rights necessary to use the same roads. The vehicle owner is paying the tax on fuel. We have a good bus system which anyone can use. When it takes an hour and a half to get a few miles its time to act. No one can seem to make a decision or come up with a viable solution. Leadership is needed and is sadly missing. Should we toll the road during peak hours? or should we put money in to building a better road? It should be easily possible to simply put a four lane road alone the ground around tunnel to tunnel. Tax Money is being spent on tiding up a road north of the Mt Vic tunnel when we are supposed to be doing major work. Clearly there is no mood to resolve this. Its time for the Politicians to rest they have had their chance. Let the citizens speak. If we have to put this to an independent offshore roading designer that has no vested interest perhaps that is a solution to move forward. There are a lot of strong views held that are not helping. Electric vehicles are increasing rapidly and going to make it more viable to use cars than ever before, even more viable that public transport. The time to move is now.
