Sutherland Rd resident's six-month battle for a 'new' new road
Sutherland Rd residents are fed up with stones and loose tar.
Lisa Blackmore knows more about road tar than a registered nurse rightly should. Foe the last six months she has been complaining about resealing that occurred six months ago.
She received a response from the council’s chief infrastructure officer, Tom Williams, who said Wellington City provided a “much higher level of service” for road resurfacing than the rest of New Zealand, which also meant it cost more.
He believed the correct surface had been put on the road, but there were “issues with the treatment outcome”.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
