Unfortunately, 50% of our waste contractors are currently unwell with COVID-19 or other seasonal bugs, which means there will be significant delays to kerbside waste collections.

Kerbside rubbish and co-mingle recycling (wheelie bins and bags) are being prioritised, but there may be some delays. If yours is missed, please leave it out overnight for collection the next day.
Glass collections will be put on hold from Monday 27 June for an estimated two weeks.

You can still drop your glass items off for free at the Recycling Centre at the Southern Landfill or stockpile clean items until collections restart.

We wish our contractors a speedy recovery.

Thank you all for your patience 🙏

If you can come and take it away, it is yours for free. We got it from the Warehouse 2 years ago. It is in good condition other than the hole as seen in the picture, where it has come away from it's straps - needs a sewer with a strong needle. The netting is all intact, and it is still sturdy. It measures 310cm in diameter, with a little bit more to allow for the uprights which curve outwards.

"Those with delicate sensibilities look away and stop reading now. For the rest of you, this is one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen. Two black swans/kakīānau (Cygnus atratus) were doing their whole love dance that they do, with the twining necks and head bobbing (I have much nicer photos than this one - but this is the funny one), they finished with some post-coital celebratory honking. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a male greylag goose zoomed in and starting joining in with his own loud honking, while swimming around the loving couple - it quite put the poor old male swan off his stride. He wound up nipping the goose on the bottom to get him to go away - it quite ruined the mood."
