What do people think of the opportunity to site a community Mini Golf facility in the area between Karori and Wilton??
There is a group in Karori who would be keen to raise the money and set this up, with welcome help from the community, and all funds raised would be returned to the community.
Currently anyone from the Karori and western ward areas has to travel a fair distance to play Mini Golf.
How about having one of our own – with all profits being returned to community needs.
It is really important to get feedback on this as the Wellington City Council needs to know the level of support before they will commit to setting aside a suitable site.

This Watch covers the possibility of northwest gales becoming severe at times in exposed parts of the Canterbury High Country north of Mt Taylor, Marlborough, Wellington and Wairarapa.

Forecast: Northwest winds may approach severe gale in exposed places at times.

Although many people were for the idea, some parents felt "blindsided" that they weren't forewarned that Hana Kōkō would be stepping in for Santa Claus. The parade's organisers have since apologised.

Keep your eyes peeled for the latest scam to be fooling Kiwis. Scammers are taking advantage of people looking for a home to call their own, creating fake competitions and giveaways to win a tiny home.

A recent scam asked people to sign up on their page which went through a process of multiple surveys so the scammers can collect more information about the Facebook user in the hope of collecting personal details, including bank accounts. To read all about the scam, click here.

A fraud education manager says:
- People are helping the scammers by liking and sharing the post as it spreads the virus
- As soon as you like the Facebook post it gives scammers access to information
- If unsure whether it's a scam or not, look for terms and conditions - often these scams do not have them
- If you think you've been made a victim of an online scam, contact Netsafe and report it immediately. You can access Netsafe's page here.

James Norcliffe at Randell Cottage
James will talk about what he brought into the Randell Cottage — poetry and books for children — and what he hopes he will take out of it: a novel for grown-ups.

James wears a number of writing hats. He is a:
•children’s writer
•poet
•editor
•teacher of creative writing, and
•promoter of poetry in Christchurch.

Apart from a collection of short stories set in China, The Chinese Interpreter, and a few other short stories, he has rarely written fiction for adults.
Writing for grown-ups
His time in the Randell Cottage has given him the opportunity to write a novel for grown-ups.
James's wide-ranging talk will include readings from recently published work and background on how the pieces came about and then — braving the superstition regarding talk of work in progress — he will discuss The Frog Prince, his current Randell Cottage project.
There will be ample opportunity for the audience to participate via question and answer.

About the speaker
James Norcliffe is an editor, poet and children’s writer.

His recent work includes Dark Days in the Oxygen Cafe (VUP), The Pirates and the Nightmaker, Twice Upon A Time (Longacre/Random/Puffin) and Bonsai: Best Small Stories from Aotearoa New Zealand edited with Michelle Elvy and Frankie McMillan (Canterbury University Press).
