From 11am NZST on Thursday 30 April until Sunday 17 May, Artfair.co.nz will be hosting a Virtual Art Fair where you will discover more than 30 galleries from New Zealand and Australia displaying works that would have otherwise been seen at the 2020 Auckland Art Fair.
The Virtual Art Fair is in recognition of the artists who have already made special works for the Auckland Art Fair that couldn’t happen, and the galleries who have supported them in doing so.
“It comes at a time of global uncertainty, when the importance of art, community and culture are especially apparent,” their team said in a recent statement.
The Auckland Art Fair is designed to be “a celebration – as best we can – of the talent and diversity of art making by artists from our region; not only across New Zealand and Australia, but also around the wider Pacific-rim. We hope that, wherever possible, some of these artists and galleries will be supported by someone buying a work of art.”
Browse, look, enquire and consider as you get to know new galleries and artists in support of contemporary culture at a time when the artists and galleries really need it.

Wellington Water’s Manager Major Projects, Stephen Wright, says the temporary change is a final part of preparations for repairing the pipes and ending the sludge trucking operations, between Moa Point and the Southern Landfill, that were put in place to avoid any discharge of sludge into the sea after the pipelines failed.
“Bringing the specialist team and materials here from Germany during the global pandemic and our own lockdown has been a real challenge. We’re extremely grateful to the Government for granting the special permission necessary to bring them here so quickly.”
On arrival in the country, the technicians spent 14 days in quarantine in Auckland before travelling on to Wellington, where they arrived last night.

You could use a chair like this in a home office, as a plant stand, or as a bedside table for your books and lamp. Painting one chair is an easy way to inject a bit of colour into a room too.
Make the most of this weekend with this easy step by step project idea from Resene.

Strict safety measures will be in place to protect workers on site, residents and other members of the public. These include workers keeping to their “bubbles” on site and strict controls on everyone coming in and out of the worksites.
Normal work hours are 7am – 6pm, with noisy work not beginning until 7.30am. Sometimes work will need to be done on Saturday mornings, when noisy work will not begin before 8am. No work will be done on Sundays unless it is an emergency. Safe pedestrian access will be maintained on all streets at all times.
Working on roads is very dangerous for people, and traffic management is a key part of reducing this risk. Please take care around construction sites as there may be uneven surfaces.
There are range of updates as part of this work that apply to nearby streets, for more detail on this please visit the link below.
