"It was both beautiful and sobering coming across a nesting kereru (Hemiphaga novaeseelandiae), aka wood pigeon, couple yesterday - I was following a grey warbler at the time. They had set up their twiggy nest in the crown of a punga tree.
The couple were so intensely private I felt like an atheist that had accidentally stumbled into a church or a mosque - big and bumbling and out of place, but in awe and still having a grotesque fascination for the stain-glass windows. I took my photos and quietly left."

CoreLogic figures show prices in Featherston had the most dramatic change over the last five years to October - increasing 132 per cent, from $199,750 to $463,750. Cannons Creek, and Wainuiomata were the next biggest movers with increases of 128 and 126 per cent, respectively.
There is, however, not such good news for home owners in some of Wellington's more traditionally wealthy suburbs.
Over the last five years properties in 13 areas around the Wellington Region have more than doubled in value – only two of those places had a median property value in excess of $300,000 in 2015. None were in Wellington City.

Hi neighbours - I have many (oh so many) bamboo stakes that I have cut down from my garden. There are literally over 100, so if anyone wants some - come and get 'em! They're great for staking vegies or saplings, and there are that many that I'm sure some enterprising soul can make furniture out of them :)
Let me know if you're interested and I can put some out the front of the gate.
Pick up is 101 Miramar Avenue.
Cheers
Kate

Bevis, a resident at Ryman’s Anthony Wilding Village, recently received a gentleman’s makeover. The day began at the barbershop where Bevis and his barber Kohl shared plenty of laughs. Next up, a personal stylist helped Bevis select clothes he looked and felt great in. Being pampered isn’t the norm for Bevis but based on his smile, we’re confident he loved every minute.
