Alexander Turnbull Library Curatorial Summer Series 2018 — showcasing curators over 4 successive Wednesday evenings in February. The curators talk about their research, and highlight stories from the Alexander Turnbull Library collections.

In the second of the Alexander Turnbull Library Curatorial Summer Series 2018 Drawings Paintings and Prints Curator Oliver Stead takes a light-hearted look at Valentine’s Day through the collections of the Alexander Turnbull Library. From flirtatious to facetious, the Alexander Turnbull Library collections contain masses of romantic images. Join Oliver for a delightful romp through some of the most passionate pictures, intimate insights and sizzling stories the Turnbull has to offer.

Dr Oliver Stead has been the Curator Drawings Paintings and Prints at the Alexander Turnbull Library since October 2015. He is the author of a number of books on New Zealand art. Oliver has previously held senior and specialist roles in several collecting institutions including Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Auckland War Memorial Museum, National Library of Australia and the James Wallace Art Trust. Nan Kivell was the subject of his PhD thesis in art history.

Free. No booking is required but do come early as seating is limited.
