Come and Sing With Us

The Northern Chorale is looking to grow and we are keen to recruit new members

If you've always wanted to sing in a choir, but never got around to it, we'd love to have you give us a try out for a few weeks to see whether you'd enjoy singing with us.

You don’t have to have ‘a good voice’ to join a choir and you don't need to be "musical". Everyone can sing. It doesn’t matter if you don't have a formal musical background though some knowledge or experience helps. And we’d be particularly delighted if some men were interested in joining our tenors and basses.

Why join a choir?

 It’s good for your lungs
 It’s good for your mental health
 It reduces stress levels and depression
 It enhances your brain function – what more could we want?

Why join the Northern Chorale?

 Our Musical Director Thomas Nikora is a widely experienced and talented musician
with a range of musical tastes so he challenges us with musical genres from
traditional choral music to Musical Theatre favourites.
 Led by Thomas, singing together is an altogether enjoyable experience
 There are no auditions.
 Annual subs are modest. This coming year they will be $180 payable in two
instalments of $90

Where and when?

 Every Monday Evening 7.30 - 9.30 pm
 In the Khandallah Presbyterian Church Hall, 33 Ganges Road, Khandallah. (Opposite the New World Supermarket.)

Concerts
 We usually do two public concerts a year. Generally on a Sunday afternoon.

For more information please contact our Chair:
 Anne Henderson
 Email: anne.henderson6@xtra.co.nz
 Phone: 04 4784402

Hi Neighbours,

Am I going crazy or has anyone else been hearing a persistent low-frequency hum/rumble (like an idling engine or generator) in the Wilton/Wadestown/Northland area? It’s not loud in terms of decibels but it is very penetrating, seems to be present 24/7 though especially noticeable in the quiet of night time, and is interfering with sleep. I experience it almost as much as a kind of vibration in my ears as an audible sound. It’s less noticeable outside or when there is other ambient noise (TV, wind/rain etc.) but is definitely coming from outside, at some distance away. I’m at the upper end of Cecil Rd., so I’m wondering if it could be coming from the port? I first noticed it for a couple of weeks over Christmas/new year, then it went away for a few days but has been back again for the past week or so.

I would sure like to know I’m not the only one hearing it! Would also love to know where it’s actually coming from and if it’s something that is likely to stop eventually.

Thanks for any ideas or insights!
