As transmitters of language and life narratives women hold a vital role in maintaining links to the past which act to fortify the present and prepare ground for the future.
Through the prism of the songs they pen four influential women song writers and performers will discuss the creative and political practice of telling and disseminating stories.
Chaired by RNZ’s Kirsten Johnstone the panelists will discuss issues around gender perspective and the power of voicing autobiographical experiences. This panel discussion will shed light on the importance of telling previously untold stories, and how this very act politicises the personal.
Panelists will perform a selection of their songs during the evening. Beer Baroness are the proud supporters of this event.

She is very timid and does not go outside much. We think she may be lost and would greatly appreciate it if you could keep an eye and ear out for her. She is 17 years old, a tortoise shell type colouring, medium length fur. IF YOU SPOT HER PLEASE CALL / TEXT KIRSTY on 021 447 012 and I will come and try and coax her out. If you have a shed or garage that may be shut it would be great if you could check in them. We have had her for her 17+ years and are desperate to reunite her with us and her pug mate Dot who is sitting by the door waiting for her. Please share this with your neighbours. Greatly appreciate you reading this. Kirsty and Dot

People sign up for 6x3 hour classes at $210 for the block for their chosen. They then have the option of continuing if they wish. If a class is missed, you can have a catch up on the alternative day or at the end of the block. My studio is a candy store of all kinds of art making materials, paints and products which you can help yourself to. You have to be able to initiate your own art project which I then support with tuition, materials and group inspirations. The next Thursday block starts on 17th May and the Monday block begins on 28th May. Let me know if you are interested. You can read about what we do in this article from The New Zealand Artist Magazine: www.stokes.net.nz...

We caught up with Dr Angela Campbell, PhD Manager of the WellSleep Centre, University of Otago, Wellington and she provided us with some insights into the most common symptoms women might experience whilst going through menopause, which are insomnia, hot flushes, snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. Dr Campbell states, “these are all common side effects of menopause and can affect up to 70% of women.” So, if you’re experiencing sleepless nights and suddenly disturbing your partner with this new-found snoring, you’re certainly not alone.
If you are experiencing these symptoms, you might be interested to learn that Patney offer an effective, non-invasive and temperature neutral solution that can assist with controlling your snoring - the Patney sleep positioner, has undergone independent validation testing by the WellSleep Centre, Otago University. We are so confident about the Patney sleep positioner that we offer a 30-day money back guarantee. For further information head across to our website at www.patney.com
