BERHAMPORE COLONY CATS

Kirihika from Island Bay

If you don't already know, we ( Pōneke Ngeru Rescue ) has been trapping these cats for almost a year, since July 2021

For far, we have taken 22 cats and kittens out of the colony; most have been rehomed, and some are still with us.

We estimate these guys to grow rapidly next summer, and we want to get the colony under control. We need your help!

We need to start documenting how far the colony is spreading; we already know that they've moved over to luxford.

Obviously, at the moment, kittens are our priority. There's easier to tame and rehome, meaning we open up a space faster for another cat.

If you can help us provide food, traps, microchip scanners, and vet bills, I believe we can get this colony on lock by 2023!

These four kittens were born in our care by one of the mums we trapped.

Michael from Newtown

Merry Christmas -

I have around twenty, empty 10-liter distilled water bottles to serve as emergency water storage. I saved them for my friends, but they already have their own water supplies. Take as many as you like. Please respond to this notice if you are interested.

Best wishes - Michael

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
