A Potpourri of Plays coming soon to Khandallah
On 14, 15 and 16 May, KAT will be performing a season of four short plays:
Overtones by Alice Gerstenberg directed by Hayden Rogers
Written in 1915 this is considered the earliest example of a play that dramatizes the unconscious on stage. Along with Gerstenberg's ability to write witty, interesting dialogue, this intriguing format made the play an instant success when it was first performed.
Enigma by Floyd Dell directed by Archana Sahani
A man and woman are sitting at a table. It seems clear that they are lovers who are breaking up. But do they actually even know what’s happening? It turns out to be quite the enigma.
Two Metres written and directed by Shauna Mc Coole
An up-to-the-minute, topical comedy about what Covid-19 is doing to how we react to events and interact with others.
Five Foes – Three Clues written and directed by Thomas Barker
It is a dark and stormy night, and a gaggle of self-aware genre staples have been mysteriously plucked from their respective murder-mystery worlds in order to solve the greatest crime of all.... or at least the most obnoxious. Will they be able to put aside their differences and work together? Expect the pun-expected!

Some Choice News!
DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.
Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.
For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.
Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?
We hope this brings a smile!
