Recycling on windy days
Hi everyone
I just walked around parts of Tawa, where recycling and rubbish day is tomorrow, and noticed lots of wheelie bins out on the kerbside in anticipation of collection. Please try to put the bin out on the day of collection where at all possible, and please secure the lid. This is especially important on windy days as we have at the moment.
Or keep the bin over til the next still day.
I notice lots of unwashed plastics and lids still on milk bottles etc - these can't be recycled unfortunately and need to go to waste collection.
I regularly pick up plastics blowing around and you may have noticed the huge amount of plastics accumulating in Porirua Stream and everywhere else - much of this comes from recycling bins. Much of it ends up in the oceans, and then in the food we eat. Thanks everyone.
