Wadestown School - Out of Zone enrolments
The Wadestown School Board invites applications from parents out of zone who wish to enrol their children at Wadestown School for Terms 1 and 2, 2025. Enrolment at the school is governed by an enrolment scheme, details of which are available from the school office or at www.wadestown.school.nz.... Students who live in the home zone are entitled to enrol at the school.
Limited places are available in the following areas of the school.
● Ten Out of Zone New Entrant places
● Four Out of Zone places for each year in Year 1 and 2
● Four Out of Zone places in Year 3
● Four Out of Zone places in Year 4
● Four Out of Zone places for each year in Year 5 and Year 6
● Ten Out of Zone places in Year 7
● Two Out of Zone places in Year 8
Where there are more applications for enrolment than there are places available, the Board are required to fill any vacant out of zone places by ballot.
Applications from out of zone students will be processed in the following order of priority:
● Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current children at the school.
● Priority will then be given to applicants who are siblings of former children of the school.
● Priority will then be given to applicants who are children of Board employees.
● Priority will then be given to other applicants.
If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, selection will be by ballot. If a ballot for out of zone places is required, it will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday 18 October 2024 under external supervision. Parents will be informed as to the outcome of the ballot immediately following the ballot being held.
The deadline for receipt of applications for out of zone places is 12:30 pm on Wednesday 16 October 2024.

⚠️ DOGS DIE IN HOT CARS. If you love them, don't leave them. ⚠️
It's a message we share time and time again, and this year, we're calling on you to help us spread that message further.
Did you know that calls to SPCA about dogs left inside hot cars made up a whopping 11% of all welfare calls last summer? This is a completely preventable issue, and one which is causing hundreds of dogs (often loved pets) to suffer.
Here are some quick facts to share with the dog owners in your life:
👉 The temperature inside a car can heat to over 50°C in less than 15 minutes.
👉 Parking in the shade and cracking windows does little to help on a warm day. Dogs rely on panting to keep cool, which they can't do in a hot car.
👉 This puts dogs at a high risk of heatstroke - a serious condition for dogs, with a mortality rate between 39%-50%.
👉 It is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act to leave a dog in a hot vehicle if they are showing signs of heat stress. You can be fined, and prosecuted.

We encourage you to use these - and ask your local businesses to display the posters if they can. Flyers can be kept in your car and handed out as needed.
