Wellington City Council rates payments by internet banking

Charlotte from Khandallah

Be aware, Wellington ratepayers, the Wellington City Council website seems to indicate that 1.27% is added if you are paying for something online by internet banking. We've had (unexpectedly) a year's worth of Council rates to pay (the direct debit authority we had in place for paying our rates monthly was cancelled, unbeknown to us, in November 2022) and when I went to pay it by internet banking, the template indicated 1.27% would be added (which came to nearly $70). This was not charging to a credit card - just ordinary internet banking. Husband went in and payed at their offices this morning after unsuccessfully trying to pay at a post shop and the Johnsonville Hub yesterday. I would be interested to know if anyone else has been aware of something similar.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
