I'm an old gardener, and he protest tents seem to need to be cut back

Simon from Ngaio

I'm an old man now, and very happy in Wellington.
I was a firebrand in my youth, and protesting for CND, Anti-Apartheid, Reclaim the Night, and I understand the critical need for the people today to be able to protest in freedom.

I just think it's gone on too long, their point has been made.

We will all be paying through the nose in our council rates for the next couple of years to cover all the damage they have done, plus all our local CBD businesses have lost out big time.

I feel very happy putting on my gardening gloves and going to clip town all those tents. :)

I'm sure that there are many more of us than all the protesters, and so I'm happy to go gardening, if it keeps my rates down.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
