Vintage Dutch “Hindeloopen” hand painted wall clock.
This clock, which I guess dates from the fifties, always worked perfectly until I hung it in another room. It needs to be completely level and as my walls are old kauri sarking that seems to be hard to achieve. It may also need a bit of a clean. The clock is hand painted which originated in a Dutch village called Hindeloopen. It works by pulling up the brass weights . That is why the clock should be positioned fairly high on the wall. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
