Nocturnal Feline issues

Pauline from Mount Victoria

Hi Neighbours
I am just putting my feelers out here on behalf of my boy Billy the Cat in the hope someone might be able to help me understand the Cat dynamics in the neighbourhood by night
Yesterday Billy had a urgent vet trip after his chin was bitten open and he had significant blood loss
Thanks so much to Brooklyn Vets they popped him into surgery straight away and he is recovering at home today
Vet and staff were amazing
Reason I am posting is while in the past wasn't as significant as yesterday Billy has been hurt in the same place 3 times now within the last year and always warranted Vet
I accept has always been my choice to allow him outside by night but I think those nights are over as something out there is giving him the bash on multiple occasions recently
I am just wondering if nearby neighbours have had any issues re same with your cats
Me and Billy have been locals for 12 years now and I don't feel he is safe by night anymore
There are obviously bullies in the neighbourhood
And there is considerable constant transition with non residents moving in and out
How do we keep our Pets Safe by night without locking them in
I guess I know that answer I just wonder if anyone close to my address has had any issues to
Appears the nocturnal cat wars are on the increase and injuries all cost money but more so emotional with one's cat being hurt
I am obviously human so I will be the first one to say I don't believe that Billy is a bully but things just seem on the increase with Cat fights
Any advice would be much appreciated
Kind Regards
Pauline and Billy

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
