Burying a Poet: A photographic exhibition of the tangihanga of James K Baxter will be on display at the Suzanne Aubert Heritage Centre from 1 June. Photographer William Farrimond, captured raw images of the tangihanga at the marae of Ngati Hau at Jerusalem/ Hiruhārama on the Whanganui River, 25th October, 1972 on three rolls of 35 mm b&w film. Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
