Is it time for an autumn clean out?

Lisa Long from WorkerBe Oasis

Okay, it's autumn and not very nice outside.
You might be thinking that you'd like a last good clean before winter really settles in.

We're here to help!

We've got a big list of things to do this winter at our Oasis on Hospital road in Newtown and we need a few things to do that. By getting rid of things you no longer want or need you become our farm fairy god-parents!

Our focus this winter is ensuring that our new container gets properly fitted out so we can do more classes and have more school kids come out to the farm and learn about it. We've got a need for some tools so that our volunteers have something to work with when they come in to help. And we'd like to do some fundraising events there, so we're looking for a few things for that. Below is a list of the things that we need in good, working nick.
If you can help (and we really do appreciate it!) please contact Lisa at 027 348 1097 or lisa.long@gmail.com. For more about what we do, check out this page: www.facebook.com...

The wish list:

For the container space:
Slider Doors/Ranch sliders/french doors (with working lock)
Old sail shade or similar
old shelving

Outdoor space:

Mailbox
Old outdoor solar-powered lights (that work)
Bench seating
tables

Things to enable fundraising:
Cutlery
Dishes/bowls - predominantly white
Larger bowls
pots /pans
- all sizes but especially larger stock or soup pots
Table cloths
, cloth napkins

Farm stuff

Garden Forks
Garden Spades
Hand Trowels
Wheelbarrow
Hoes
Shovels
Flexible tubs with handles
- 40Litre

Kaicycle
- our farm also houses Kaicycle which picks up food scraps by bike and turns those scraps into fabulous compost.
They need an adjustable bike stand
.

Thank you all so very much. If you do have time, please come visit us at 5 Hospital Road, Newtown.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
