Stuff, “Website of the Year”

Miriam from Ngaio

Interesting reading the recent Stuff Nation contributions about people struggling in NZ, timed to coincide with the budget. 3 stories “We’re the working poor”, “Barely scraping by” & “We skip meals so our kids eat”. I have to really question what Stuff’s agenda is when these contributions are ridiculously inaccurate and just unbelievable. For example, the woman who skips meals so her kids eat also puts Sky down as a necessity that comes before buying food (?!), plus her partner supposedly pays over 40% in tax. The 3 person family that are “barely scraping by” admit they have an income of almost $100000 (and don’t live in Auckland). The 3rd article contains no facts or figures but bags the newly elected Labour government for all their issues. Have a read and let me know what you think Stuff is up to and whether they are worthy winners of “website of the year”.
