Auckland Council staff redirected in advance of Cyclone Gabrielle hitting the region
đź“Ł We are closing all non-essential services across the region on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 February as the region prepares for Cyclone Gabrielle.
❌ This includes libraries, community centres, early childhood education centres, and active recreation centres.
âś… Only critical regulatory services activities, such as building assessments, will continue to take place.
âś… Essential services, such as our contact centres and cemeteries, will remain open.
➡️ We are redirecting our staff to support the CDCs and evacuation shelters.

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
