Carol Service

Fiona from South Taranaki District

Wesley Methodist Church Hawera will host, on Sunday the 10th December at 4pm a Service of Lessons and Carols for Christmas, with the Madrigal Companie from New Plymouth providing the choir for this special occasion.
It is a presentation of readings from the Bible, favourite carols for community singing and specially prepared music from the choir and organ. “Altogether it is a simple and memorable way to join together for a reminder of Christmas joy and love” says the director of the Madrigal Companie, Leon Paix. “We sang here last year and enjoyed it so much that we decided to come again. Sharing the spirit of Christmas is a really special thing to do – we love it!” Carols will include Away in a manger and O come all ye faithful, while the choir will present ancient and modern including What sweeter music by the contemporary composer John Rutter and O Magnum Mysterium by the 16th century composer de Victoria.
There is no ticket charge, just a welcome to all who come and enjoy.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
