Maoriland film festival - Ōtaki 20-24th March 2019

This unique event, the New Zealand equivalent of the Sundance Film Festival, runs 20-24 March in venues around Ōtaki.

It is the largest indigenous film festival in the Southern Hemisphere screening 138 films from 65 indigenous nations. Be inspired, moved and entertained with the diverse programme.

Palmerston North Airport Fly Palmy is sponsoring the opening night movie, Vai. It follows the journey of empowerment through culture over the lifetime of one woman, Vai. Vai was shot in Pacific Islands and New Zealand and is the word for water in Pacific countries. The character is played by a different indigenous actress in each of the countries.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
