Government launches shared home ownership scheme for families that can't save a deposit

The Government is launching a “shared ownership” scheme to help lower income families into homes.

The First Home Partner​ scheme would be run by Kāinga Ora​, which would take an equity share in a property to assist first home buyers who could service a mortgage, but need help raising their deposit.

Funding for 50​ shared ownership homes had been approved to be built by Habitat for Humanity​ and Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust​.

The funding had been approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga​.
