Tūhuratia ō motika! | Discover your rights! Your best defence from scams and frauds is to be aware of the scams that exist and to take some basic precautions.
Here are some pointers to start with:
👉Beware of any requests for your details on money. Never send money or give credit card details, online account details or copies of personal documents to anyone you don’t know or trust.
👉Be careful about who you give your personal details to (example, IRD number, passport number)
👉Do not let anyone pressure you into making a decision quickly, whether it’s about investing, purchasing or donating.
It’s Cyber Smart Week! (10-16 October). CERT NZ is seeing more incidents affecting New Zealanders, at work and at home, often leading to financial losses and business disruption, but the good news is that there are steps everyone can take to protect from cyber threats
