Give our street trees a drink

The Team from Marlborough District Council

The dry summer makes life hard for our street trees. Watering is carried out regularly by contractors but the trees like a helping hand from residents too. Water with a hand-held hose or a watering can in the morning or evening. Using recycled water from the bath or sink is welcome.

You can help care for street trees by:
• Keeping lawnmowers away from the trunk to prevent bark damage
• Not spraying around the tree base
• Reporting any vandalism or wind damage.

Contact the Council on 03 520 7400 if you notice a problem with a street tree. https://www.marlborough.govt.nz/recreation/parks-and-reserves/trees/street-trees

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
