Fire ban for Marlborough
A total fire ban is now in place across Marlborough following a spate of hot temperatures and strong winds. A wet start to the summer has meant vigorous plant growth, which means Marlborough is ripe for scrub fire. While the region still looks green in places, the soil and grass are drying out.
Entrance signs at the Wither Hills Farm Park have been installed cautioning walkers and bikers to avoid the area between 10am and 4pm. Temperatures are expected to peak to 35 degrees in Blenheim next week, and as the hot weather continues, everyone needs to be responsible to protect our region from a fire.
