Fire sparks warning
A fire at Blenheim’s Waste Sorting Centre earlier this week is a reminder that we need to dispose of rubbish responsibly.
Council’s Solid Waste Manager Alec McNeil says we can take simple measures, like ensuring batteries are not disposed of with other waste, to reduce the risk of fire.
The Centre has re-opened at reduced hours. Until its systems are up and running again, waste will be recorded manually. Customers should be patient with the process.
The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
