Road toll

Chairperson from Blenheim Residents & Ratepayers Association

Unless you have been living under a rock lately you will not have missed the horrendous number of fatalities on our roads.
I cover a lot of kilometers every week around our local roads and the driving standards that I observe are shocking to say the least.
If there is one thing that puts bad driving in a nutshell, it is driver impatience. Why is everyone in such a hurry that they will do stupid things just to gain five or ten seconds. That is generally all it is, a few seconds. Is it worth taking the risk of putting another family through all that grief for what is really nothing. What difference will ten seconds make to your life?
The next time you are frustrated or agitated don't put your foot down, take a deep breath and take your foot OFF THE GAS, it may just save a life.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
